His voice came out in a tremble

Almost like he never learned to speak

Standing in front of her, his palms were sweaty

And his legs felt tender and weak

This was the moment he was waiting for

He finally got his chance

But he couldn’t find the words to say

He wished he could say it with just a glance

A nervous smile spread across his face

As he wiped the sweat from his brow

In his he was thinking “I better do it”

There was no better time than now

All the build up had led to this

It was his shining moment in the sun

The first word “I…”stumbled from his lips

And instantly he felt the desire to run

But out of nowhere came a sudden burst of energy

And he lifted his head to meet her gaze

While everything behind her was blurry

By her beauty he was no longer fazed

He leaned in to kiss her cheek

And gently caressed her face with his hand

He closed his eyes tightly, and with no hesitation

Told her “I….can no longer be your man”
